Born Into It
As a toddler and into her early school years, Marcela was raised by extended family, family friends, and even paid strangers. She moved from house to house, experiencing love only in fleeting moments. Early on, she felt the sting of rejection and loneliness, but also learned to find beauty in life through God and nature, lessons she held onto from her maternal grandparents until the age of four.
1988
Escape in School
School became Marcela’s escape. As a young student, she began earning straight A’s. It was the one part of her life she could control, the one place where hard work brought fair reward. She discovered a deep love for learning. Her faith and her studies became her guiding path.
1990
Early Trauma
At just 7 years old, Marcela endured traumatic abuse at the hands of family. As she grew into her body, she learned firsthand the dangers of being a girl in a world already stacked against her. She survived. She buried the pain deep within. And she let God lead her through the darkness.
1994
Orphanage
At 11, she had nowhere left to go and entered a home for homeless girls. There, she faced isolation, hardship, and adversity. She learned the kind of survival skills that only loneliness can teach. She grew up fast. She had no other choice.
1998
A New Beginning
Marcela arrived in the United States. Everything was unfamiliar. A new language, a new culture, and a household still touched by abuse. She relearned how to survive. She studied. She helped at home. She struggled to hold onto her faith… but she kept going.
2001
Graduation = Freedom
Graduation day... A major turning point in her life. Marcela graduated high school with honors and a few scholarships. She left home. She worked. She enrolled in college. For the first time, she had full control of her life. And she was ready to begin.
2007
Unfamiliar Pain
In an abusive relationship, Marcela left school to become a mother. She was filled with hope, only to face the devastating loss of her first child. That grief reshaped her. It deepened her purpose. She would become a mother again. And she did, to a bouncy baby boy.
2011
New Chapter
After giving birth to her second son, Marcela left the abusive relationship. She became a single mom. She went back to school. She finished her undergraduate degree in her 30s. She started a career in management. She rebuilt her relationship with God. A new chapter built entirely on her own.
2014
After the Rain
Marcela stepped into the light. She remarried. She had two more children. She bought her first home. She started her MBA and advanced her career. She raised her children with love and built a stable, joyful life.
2024
Stories Not Over
After the storm, came the sun. Marcela began sharing her story. She connected with women who had walked similar paths. She inspired others. And she chose to give back.
